Menos el Gis todo es Hipster

Este fue un proyecto diferente sobre la península del Barbanza y la Ría de Arousa.
No es mi cometido difundir el proyecto, así que, liberada de esa tarea, me puedo relajar en la intrahistoria de la creatividad….

‘Menos el GIS todo es hipster’ Le dijo Alfonso a Clara en plena discusión animada sobre el urbanismo de guerrilla.

Me lo quedo.

Y quiero ser hipster y quiero ser GIS, quiero ser todo. Quiero ser eco, quiero ser agricultora, quiero valentía para ser pescadora o percebeira. Quiero enlatar pensamientos para que no tengan fecha de caducidad. Quiero ser eslabón de una cadena de trabajo. Quiero aprender a crear semilla de almeja y también de proyectos. Quiero plantar ideas. Quiero proteger procesos. Lo quiero todo. Soy urbanista en eso. Lo quiero todo.

Durante cinco semanas hemos sido parte del equipo de David Chipperfield Architects pensando sobre y en la Ría de Arousa y la Península del Barbanza. El ying y el yang de tierra y mar. El límite entre el color y el no color. La línea de la costa. La franja compleja en la que sucede la vida.

Xoán se ha metido conmigo por abusar del trenzado. Mariña me ha recordado que del trenzado salen las telas. Marta me ha reñido por no usar convenientemente las telas. Rebeca me ha recordado la seducción de la firmeza y de la crítica. Adrián me ha confirmado que la estrategia asegura la imagen. María me ha mostrado lo sencilla que es la comunicación. Bruno me ha regalado el boceto del concepto. Francis me ha recordado que el hecho de que las personas nos consigamos comunicar, es un milagro, en cualquier idioma. Clara me ha recordado la jovencísima Iria ahora lejana. Carmen me ha demostrado que el urbanista sonríe abiertamente. Marta ha escrito urbanismo procesual con un dibujo de proporciones insospechadas. Xulio ha resumido la incertidumbre cuando desenfocaba la visión. Oscar me ha recordado las cuadernas de la arquitectura. Aitor me ha contagiado de su curiosidad pertinente, ojalá me contagiase de su efectividad. María me ha enseñado que la duda no es evidente. Gerard me ha regañado en la prudencia. Alfonso me ha enseñado la firmeza posicional de una risa. Cristina me ha contado que nuestra edad está en nuestra actitud. Manuel me ha recordado que las cosas son sencillas. Manuel me ha recordado que las cosas son posibles.

Esto ha sido una experiencia personal y una experiencia de equipo. El equipo que está aquí y el equipo que hace posible la estancia. El equipo que te cubre. El equipo que te cuida. El equipo que cuida lo que amas. El equipo que cuida lo que construyes.

Soy ambiciosa de más. Quiero ser traductora.
No de idiomas. Traductora de situaciones, de escalas, de ideas. Traductora de ideas a proyectos. Traductora de individualidades a grupos. De grupos a administraciones. Traductora de ocurrencias a posibilidades. Traductora de posibilidades a estrategias. Traductora de estrategias a realidades.

Soy ambiciosa de más, quiero ser casamentera, o, mejor, seductora intérprete. Intérprete del inquilino con el propietario, del propietario con la ciudad, de la ciudad con el puerto, de la ciudad con el monte. Seductora Intérprete del puerto con el mar, del mar con el monte. Seductora intérprete del dinero con la ecología, del individuo con el mar, del individuo con su tierra, del viajante con la tierra del otro, del extranjero con su propia tierra.

Será verdad la imagen oriental del cielo y el infierno como la misma cosa: una gran olla de arroz, unos palillos demasiado grandes. Sólo cambiando que en uno aprendes que la forma de alimentarte es alimentar al otro, y que otro te alimente a ti. El infierno es que intentes hacerlo tú solo y nunca llegues con el arroz a la boca.

Urbanismo. El urbanismo lo es todo. La urbanidad también. Y, otra cosa, el urbanismo es hipster, hipster que lo flipas, y al GIS más le vale aprender a bailar, que le salga barba, que se vista de fontanero, o que a los que lo manejan no se les olvide: que el GIS es sordo, y ciego, si me apuras. Que bailar bailan los urbanistas y bailan con la valentía de un percebeiro, con el optimismo de un agricultor, con la paciencia de un pescador de lubinas y con tanto tiempo como tarda en caducar una lata de conserva.

Juan Luis*, se te echa de menos. El territorio te añora, y mucho más los que te conocimos. Tú, tú, como urbanista, como profesor protector de procesos emergentes, como maestro de la traducción y del enlatado de ideas, debes estar en el cielo. Desde luego lo estás en el mío.

This was an interesting and different project among the peninsula of Barbanza and Ría de Arousa. It is not my commitment to talk on the project, so, liberated of this task I can relax myself on the conceptual thing:

‘Except for GIS programs, everything is hipster.’ told Alfonso to Clara when they were arguing on ways of approaching to the work.

I’ll keep this statement for myself.

I want to be hipster, I want to be GIS, I want to be everything. I want to be Eco, I want to be agricultor, I want courage to be fisherman or percebeira. I want to put my thoughts into a can for them not to have date of expiry. I want to be part of a chain work. I want to learn how to create a clam seed, also a project seed. I want to plant ideas. I want to protect processes. I want everything. I’m an urbanist. I want everything.

During five weeks we have been part of the team of David Chipperfield Architects thinking about the Ría de Arousa and Barbanza Península. The ying and yang of land and sea. The limit between color and no color. The coast line. The shore. The space where the life happens.

Xoán picked on me because of  my word ‘braided’. Mariña, instead, remembered me that braiding threads we make fabrics. Marta told me to use better my fabrics. Rebeca has remembered me the beauty of the firmness. Adrian has confirmed me that strategy assures the image. Maria has shown me how easy communication can be. Bruno has given me as a gift  the sketch of the whole project. Francis demonstrated me that the fact of communicating to each other is in fact a miracle, in any language. Clara has remembered me an almost forgotten Iria from the past. Carmen has smiled constantly and profoundly, as an urbanist, and it was amazing. Marta has wrote urbanistic things with a huge plan. Xulio has summarized when the thing was unfocused. Oscar has remembered me that architecture is in every place, also in places we never search for architecture. Aitor shared with me his marvellous curiosity, I look forward to have his efficiency. Maria has shown that doubt is not so evident. Gerard picked on me for the prudence. Alfonso has shown me that a hidden smile can be firm and funny at the same time. Cristina told me that our shared age is about our attitude. Manuel has remembered me that things can be easy. Manuel has remembered me that things can happen.

This was a personal experience, also an experience of a team. The team in Barbanza and the other team, the one that allows it to happen. The team that covers you. The team that takes care of your things, the things you love. The team that takes care of everything you are building.

I am ambitious. I want to be a translator, not a language translator but a translator of situations, of scales, of ideas. I want to be translator from ideas to projects, from individualities to groups, from groups to the Administration. I want to be a translator of ideas to possibilities, from possibilities to strategy, from strategy to realities.

I am too ambitious, I want to be seduction, even better, seductive translation. I want to be inter preter, performer, player. I want to be the seduction between the tenant and the landlord, between the landlord and the city, between the city and the port, between the city and the mountain. I want to be the attraction between port and sea, sea and mountain, money and ecologism, seduction between the person and the land, the traveller and the other’s land, between the outlander and his/her own land.

Could be true this oriental image of heaven and hell in which the two are the same room with a cooking pot and rice inside it, the two have the same incredibly large chopsticks to get to eat. In the heaven they have learned that if you feed the other, someone will feed you. In the hell they keep on trying to feed oneself forever.

Urbanism. Urbanism is everything for me. Cityzenship is everything for me. And, let me say, urbanism is hipster, too hipster, and GIS should learn how to dance, how to get a beard, how to dress as a plumber; at least, people in charge of the GIS machine should know that GIS is deaf, deaf and blind. The dance is performed by the urbanists, and they should use the courage of the Percebeiro, the optimism of an agricultor, the patience of a fisherman, and they should have confidence in the long date of expire of their ideas, like with their inhalt, the cans do.

Juan Luis*, we miss you. The territory misses you, and much more the people that met you. You, as an urbanist, as a professor and protector of emerging processes, as a maestro of translating and seducting the territory. You must be in heaven, at least you’re in mine.
